Eyewear Campaign: Refined & Elegant with a Twist

As an advertising photographer, I believe it’s important to understand our clients’ brand and campaign goals. Many people want to jump right in to production or creative direction without a discussion, especially on a tight deadline. But, an initial discussion at the start will save immense time and expense down the line.

We started this campaign with a week of discussions about Zero G, their accomplishments, and their goals for the season. We imagined together how the brand would grow in the coming years and how to line them up for success. As a result, we identified their priorities for the shoot. We also settled on a refined, elegant aesthetic, with a slight twist on a classic style. This aesthetic represents the quality and craftsmanship of their products while highlighting the innovation of their designs and colors.

The Casting Process

Fit is a consideration in every casting process. But, because most models come in pretty standard sizes, it tends to be straightforward assuming their measurements are accurate. Eyewear poses a new challenge since everyone has different facial features, head sizes, pupil placement, etc. This was a longer casting process than most requiring in-person fittings of multiple frames for every model that stepped through the door. There were drop-dead gorgeous models who had to be turned away because the frames were simply sitting too low or were too large on their faces. Other models seemed to wilt a little as their beautiful features were masked by heavier frames. But in the end, we found the perfect trio.

Izzy, Chandler, and Chad all brought the magic blend of looks, fit, personality, modeling ability, and vibe to our set. Although we had tons of frames to shoot in some complex combinations, they flowed from frame to frame with ease and grace. Of course, none of this is possible without a fantastic team. For this shoot, we hand-selected the models and the makeup & hair team, which resulted in a beautiful, fun, and very productive day.

Thank you to our lovely models and our trusted beauty team Garret and Michael for their immense talents.
